Sunderland ware jug commission

I've almost finished another painting commission for a couple in Norfolk. This one was based around an unusual Sunderland ware jug:

I have done a handful of paintings in the past, inspired by this particular pottery. They usually have a maritime theme and often have a proverb or saying on the jug too. I currently own one jug and it looks like this:

Here are some other paintings inspired by this pottery:

Flickr gallery

I've recently uploaded over 40 of my newest paintings to Flickr. I'm in the process of putting together a solo show for Bircham gallery in Norfolk and I will be adding those images soon.

Snow

I know I'm not the only person in the United Kingdom to have snow just now and I won't bore you with the details, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to show some of the paintings I've done with a snow theme. The first one is a small unframed picture which I did as a present for my husband and we have it on our mantlepiece, it has a lovely little lead figure of a lady pushing a pram in front of it and she looks like she's trudging through the snow. The second one is a shot of my plant pots and Christopher Marvell birdbath this morning and the other images are from my archive of sold work.
The building that appears in the first image and again in the third, is Choppards Mission, a small chapel which is located across the valley from us. The farmhouse in the Robin picture and the Hellebore painting is on the hilltop opposite and has appeared in a number of paintings.

Beautiful morning

We have had some spectacular early morning mist, frost and light. This morning the mist slowly moved up and down the valley creating amazing light effects. We are so lucky to live here.

Pen and ink

I decided recently that i was going to spend more time writing real letters and sending fewer emails. I love writing with a nib pen and have been using some which I have had for a very long time. This has led me into doing more pen and ink drawings which I really enjoy. These ink drawings are ideas for future paintings.

As you can see, I have enough spare nibs to last into the next century.

Happy Birthday Clare

My friend Clare recently had a 50th birthday and I was going to make her a card with a hand painted image on the front. But then I thought that it would be more long lasting to paint it on board, so this is the result:

I also made her a cake and decorated it with a couple of little paper banners.
